Lincoln Stars to Team Up with American Cancer Society for “Jerseys Off Our Backs” Night

The Lincoln Stars hockey team and the American Cancer Society are pleased to announce their partnership for the game Saturday, March 17 versus the Des Moines Buccaneers.  The game will include specially designed game-worn jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately following the contest at the “Jerseys Off Our Backs” auction. 

“The American Cancer Society is extremely excited to partner with the Lincoln Stars for this event for the fourth year in a row,” commented Mike Lefler, Director of Communications for the American Cancer Society.  “For the past several years, the Stars have been one of our organization’s biggest supporters here in Nebraska thanks to their commitment, and the commitment of their fans to the Society’s mission of saving lives and fighting back against cancer.”

The auction will be held in the Mutual of Omaha Bank Zone in the north end of the Ice Box.  Fans may register for a bid number at the Fan Services booth in the south entrance prior to the start of the auction.  Winners will receive the jersey, their photo with the player and a gift certificate from FastFrames Lincoln. Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Lincoln Stars Team Up with American Cancer Society for “White Out Against Cancer” Event

The Lincoln Stars hockey team and the American Cancer Society are pleased to announce their partnership in “White Out Against Cancer Night” at the Ice Box on Friday, April 1, 2011.  The Stars will host the Muskegon Lumberjacks in one of their final home games of the 2010-11 regular season.  The game will include the Stars’ annual “Jerseys Off Our Backs” jersey auction, with the Stars handing over their one-of-a-kind, autographed and game-worn jerseys to the winning bidders in a live auction immediately following the game.

As part of the event night, the Stars will bring back the popular “White Out” tradition, where fans are asked to wear white to the game on April 1st.  Commemorative “White Out Against Cancer” t-shirts will be available for purchase at Face-Off Sports beginning March 18th.  T-shirts will be $8 each, and quantities will be limited.

A friendly competition among Lincoln Stars players will also add to the fundraising efforts.  From now through April 1, fans can donate money for the player(s) they would most like to see get their head “buzzed”.  The player with the most donations will be declared the “winner” and will receive their special haircut at the conclusion of the jersey auction.

Proceeds from the “White Out” t-shirt sales, player fundraiser and jersey auction will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Lincoln Stars “Jerseys Off Our Backs Night” Raises $30,000 for the American Cancer Society


Starz 3 Small.jpg            The Lincoln Stars hockey team and the American Cancer Society teamed up for the annual “Jerseys Off Our Backs Night” at the Ice Box following the Stars’ 2-0 victory over Team USA Under 17 Saturday night.  The live jersey auction featured 25 one-of-a-kind, autographed and game-worn jerseys raising over $30,000 for the American Cancer Society’s mission to help people stay well, to help people get well, to find cures and to fight back against cancer.

“Saturday night’s auction was a testament to how dedicated Stars’ fans are towards their hockey team as well as to a great cause,” commented Mike Lefler, Director of Communications for the American Cancer Society.  “The Lincoln Stars organization has shown a dedication to helping support the mission of the American Cancer Society and Stars’ supporters proved that they share that dedication by bidding on these jerseys.”
